Flaneur Authenticates Limited Edition Streetwear
Amsterdam-based streetwear brand combats counterfeits with digital product passports
The Challenge
Flaneur, the Amsterdam-based streetwear brand known for its limited drops and collaborative collections, faced a growing counterfeit problem. With pieces regularly selling out in minutes and reselling for 3-5x retail, fake Flaneur items flooded secondary markets.
"We'd see obviously fake pieces selling on Vinted and Marktplaats within days of a drop," explains the brand's operations lead. "It hurt our customers and diluted our brand equity."
The Solution
Flaneur implemented Provinium's Digital Product Passport solution across their entire product line. Each garment now features a unique QR code that links to its digital twin, containing:
- Cryptographically secure authentication
- Full production provenance
- Care instructions and material composition
- Ownership transfer capability for resale
Implementation
The rollout was seamless. Provinium integrated directly with Flaneur's existing Shopify setup and their 3PL partner's warehouse management system. Labels are generated automatically during the picking process.
"We didn't have to change any of our processes," notes the team. "The QR codes are printed alongside our existing care labels."
Results
Within six months of launch:
- 94% reduction in reported counterfeits on secondary markets
- 340% increase in post-purchase customer engagement through the product pages
- 12,000+ ownership transfers verified through the platform
- Apple Wallet integration drove 67% adoption of digital ownership certificates
Looking Forward
Flaneur is now exploring Provinium's upcoming features including NFC-enabled authentication for their premium collaborations and integration with major resale platforms for instant verification.
"Provinium transformed how our community interacts with our products. The authentication is just the beginning—it's become a whole new touchpoint with our customers."
